Emmanuel Radnitzky se narodil ve Philadelphii roku 1890 a zemřel v Paříži 1976 l.P.. Byl americký fotograf, malíř, kolážista, tvůrce ready-madeů a krátkých filmů, rayograf, dadaista a surrealista, jehož rodiči byli ruští Židé a pseudonym Man Ray je jen zkrácenina jeho pravého jména. Říkal si tak z důvodů antisemitských nálad ve společnosti. Stýkal se takřka se všemi, alespoň trochu známými, dadaisty a surrealisty a většinu z nich i nafotil. Nejvíce se však stýkal se slovutným Marcelem Duchampem, s kterým také často tvořil. Byl prvním tvůrcem rayografie. Většinu života ztrávil ve Francii.

Emmanuel Radnitzky was born in Philadelphia in 1890 A.D. and died in Paris in 1976 A.D.. He was an american photographer, painter, collage maker, creator of ready-mades and short movies, rayographer, dadaist and surrealist , whose parents were Russian Jews. His pseudonym Man Ray is just a short cut of his real name. He called himslef Man Ray because of anti-Semitic society around him. He met almost all of known dadaists and surrealists and he took a photo of most of them. He was a big friend and co-worker of Marcel Duchamp. He was the first who made a rayograph. He spent most of his life in France.
