Marie Čermínová, neboli Toyen, se narodila roku 1902 v Praze a zemřela 1980 léta páně v Paříži. Byla jednou z členek Devětsilu a České Surrealistické Skupiny a je to patrně nejvýznamější česká surrealistka. Ve své tvorbě byla velmi ovlivněna eroticismem, což se stalo pro Českou Surrealistickou Skupinu určujícím znakem. Za 2. světové války u sebe v Paříži schovávala Jindřicha Heislera. Velmi se přátelila s André Bretonem i Manem Rayem.

Marie Čermínková alias Toyen was born in 1902 A.D. in Prague and she died in 1980 A.D. in Paris. She was one of members of the Devětsil Union of Modern Culture and the Czech Surrealistic Group. Probably she was the most considerable Czech Surrealist. Her works was influenced by eroticism, what is typical for the Czech Surrealistic Group. During World War Two she was hideing Jindřich Heisler (Czech Jewish poet and painter) in her flat in Paris. She was a friend of Man Ray and André Breton.
